Privacy Policy

ShowerDrop ("we") runs a mobile app that lets truck drivers share spare shower credits at truck stops. This policy explains what we collect, why, who helps us process it, and how you can delete it. Questions: support@showerdrop.app.
What we collect
- Account. Your email address if you sign in with an email code or with Google (from Google we also receive your name and profile picture, which we don't show to other drivers). Beta testers can also use the app without an account; then we store no email.
- Profile. Nickname, avatar (one of our pictures or a photo you upload), app language, the loyalty chains you have credits with, and when you accepted the Terms.
- Location, only while the app is open. Your phone's location is used to find the truck stop you're at and to check you're within 500 m of it when you request a shower or offer to share. We do not store your coordinates or track your route; we store only which stop you checked in at and when. We never use location in the background.
- Exchanges. For each shower exchange: the stop, both participants, times and outcome. The shower code and any photo of it are deleted as soon as the exchange closes, unless the photo was reported (see below).
- Notifications. A push token for your device, so we can tell you about requests and codes.
- Reports and fair-use records. Complaints you send, and records of failed exchanges or no-shows that can pause an account for a while.
How we use it
Only to run the service: match drivers at the same stop, deliver codes and notifications, keep exchanges fair, answer support requests and keep the app working. We don't sell your data, we don't show ads, and we don't use your data for advertising.
What other drivers see
The driver you exchange with sees your nickname and avatar, and, for the code, what the donor sends. Nobody sees your email, location or exchange history.
Reported photos
If a photo of a code is reported, we keep it to review the complaint: it is emailed to our support inbox and the copy in our storage is deleted 14 days later.
Who processes data for us
- Supabase hosts our database, sign-in and file storage (United States).
- Expo and Google Firebase Cloud Messaging deliver push notifications.
- Google provides Sign in with Google and the map shown in the app.
- Resend sends sign-in codes and support emails.
Each of them handles data only to provide its service to us. Truck stop locations come from OpenStreetMap.
How long we keep it
As long as your account exists. Codes and code photos are deleted when the exchange ends; a reported photo is deleted from our storage 14 days after the report is emailed to us. Check-ins expire after 30 minutes.
Deleting your data
Delete your account any time in the app: Profile → Delete account. This removes your account, profile, photos and push tokens. Past exchanges stay only as anonymous records without your identity, so the other driver's history stays correct. You can also email support@showerdrop.app to ask what we hold about you or to have it deleted.
Children
ShowerDrop is for adults 18 and over. We don't knowingly collect data from children.
Changes
If we change this policy, we'll update the date above and tell you in the app when the change matters.
